LEBUH PUTERI TRAFFIC ISSUE - MEETING@MPSJ (13 FEB 2009)

This morning at an important meeting was held at 10:30am by councilor Tan Jo Hann with the MPSJ Engineering Department, Director Adnan B, Derahman, IOI Project Manager Mr Esmond, and his consultant engineer Mr Matthew Liew, and residents representatives Mr Jacky Teh of Acacia Puteri 7, Mr William Pang and Mr Stanley of Sri Camelia Apartments. It was to discuss the findings of the Traffic report from IOI with regards to the "dangerous junction" at the Columbia Asia Hospital in Bandar Puteri.

Over the past few m
onths there has been numerous road accidents and injuries to persons, and the problematic road junction has been of serious concerns to the public and MPSJ. Since the roads in that vicinity is still under the responsibility of IOI, it was natural that they were taken to account to improve the situation at the junction.

Last December, there were already some steps taken namely, the low bushes at the road island had been cut to enable better road vision, the speed breakers on
both sides of the road had been thickened to reduce speeding vehicles, and no u-turn signs put up at the junctions.

This morning the discussions resulted in the following:

(1) Explore the possibility of making road 4 humps (2 on each side of the 2 roads right before the junctions).

(2) Setting up 24 hours
yellow alert lights (blinking) at the road side at the 2 junctions.
(3) Exploring adding more street lights at both junctions to brighten up the
roads for better visibility at night.

These suggestions will of course be channeled to the MPSJ Infrastructure Committee for deliberations and approval. After w
hich IOI will be obliged to fulfill these tasks. We thank the MPSJ Engineering Department for their diligence, prompt and efficient service, and also the cooperation of IOI in seeking an amicable solution to this issue.

CHAP GOH MEH CELEBRATION【元宵節慶團圓】

Date: 8th February 2009 (Sunday)
Venue: Playground at Acacia Puteri 7
Time: 8.00pm

The RA of Acacia Puteri 7 held its 1st community event ie. "Chap Goh Meh Celebration" and "Sharing Best Food & Win Contest" . Our RA Secretary, Jacky was the MC for the day in the absence of our Chairman who had a prior appointment.

We had 15 contestants taking part in the "Sharing Best Food & Win Contest". Among the food contested were jelly cake, dumplings, curry chicken, muruku, nasi lemak, fried chicken, fried meehoon, red bean soup, yam cake, layered cake, peanut porridge, jelly with santan, curry puffs, fish balls and sausages.

The contestants were judged through the Democratic process ie. polling by those residents who were present for this celebration. The Grand Prize winner was Mrs.Tai, whose fried chicken was very well received and the first dish to be completely "wiped" out. For her effort she received a Hamper and Angpow courtesy of the RA. The rest of the contestants received an Angpow each as a token of appreciation for their contribution to make this event successful.

Apart from the food and drinks, residents also brought along some CNY cookies, mandarin oranges, pomelos, beer, etc. to share at this gathering. During the celebration a few issues were also highlighted which includes the Fencing and Guardhouse Project, the contributions, Security fees collection, Dengue Fever and other minor issues.

The celebrations ended on a high note and some residents even suggested that the RA organise other events so as to foster good neighbourliness and friendship among the residents of Puteri 7. Frankly this celebration would not have been successful if not for the dedication of the RA Committee and the participation of the Residents living in Acacia Puteri 7, many thanks and wish everyone happiness and success for the Year 2009.

TREE CUTTING BY MPSJ

After RA logged the complaints to MPSJ on November 2008, MPSJ finally sent their contactor to cut the trees on 8 Jan 2009. The backlane of 7/6 is now clearer (less dense) and members do not need to worry of falling tree or branches especially during heavy wind and rain. It also helps to prevent a potential robber from hiding behind the dense trees. Thanks to MPSJ for a job well done.

BUSH CUTTING & THICKENING OF SPEED BREAKERS AT LEBUH PUTERI

A few weeks ago we reported about the site visit and meeting at Lebuh Puteri. A few measures were suggested to mitigate the problem. As a follow-up to our last update, councilor Mr Tan Jo Hann and a fellow JKP member visited the site again on 11 Jan 2009. We are glad that the developer had finished trees and bush cutting (10 Jan 2009) and thickening of speed breakers (11 Jan 2009) at that junction. Meanwhile, we are still waiting for traffic consultants from IOI to submit report to MPSJ and councilor regarding traffic lights installation. We wish to remind motorists to drive carefully and slow down while approaching the junction.

SITE VISIT & MEETING AT LEBUH PUTERI ON 26/12/08

by Councilor Tan Jo Hann, Zone 16

Today I visited the site of the numerous accident at the junction right outside Columbia Asia Hospital at Bandar Puteri. A meeting was held there together with the IOI management Mr Esmond and his engineer; the MPSJ Engineering team led by Encik Adnan Director of Engineering Department, community leaders, Mr David & Mr Jacky (Acacia Puteri 7 RA), Mr William (Sri Camelia apartments), and Sargeant Matsood, Ketua Balai of Bandar Puteri.

After much extensive discussions and exploration here is what was decided collectively:
1. Immediately to cut the low bushes obstructing vision all along the island stretch on that portion of the Lebuh Puteri road.

2. The existing speed breakers on both sides of the road in the vicinity of the junction outside Columbia Asia Hospital will be thickened to slow down speeding vehicles.

3. It was also decided that these immediate measures will be completed latest by January 5th 2009.

4. Meanwhile IOI traffic consultants will immediately do further study of the situation to ascertain the possibility of setting up wide road humps on both side of the road, and also the installation of a traffic lights at the junction in question.

5. The findings should be completed latest by the end of January 2009 and will be forwarded to the MPSJ "Jawatan Kuasa" on Infrastructure for approval and to be carried out by IOI (The roads are still under the management of IOI as it is not yet handed over to the MPSJ)

With these measures in place we hope and plead that all parties especially the motorists and general public will cooperate to ensure road safety is top priority!
